Is farro fair?

I need a ruling on whether farro is an ok grain to eat as a carb.  It's packed with protein but isn't listed in the FYT foods.  Does anyone object to me having a fist-sized serving of farro as my carb?

It's fantastic with asparagus and tomatoes mixed in!

Hope it is going well for everyone.  Have a good weekend!

Wheat Bellly!

Hey Ladies,

I am listening to  an interesting book on Audible.com called Wheat Belly, that explores how wheat has genetically changed so much in the last 50 years that it is contributing to the obesity epidemic in the US.   It is a thought provoking read interesting read.  Maybe another diet fad issue, but I may try no wheat to see how it affects my weight and overall healthy.  No fat, no wheat, no sugar what's let to eat/enjoy? :-)
Have a great Game On week.  Already had my meal off on Wednesday!   Yikes.

Kale?

Does anybody have a good recipe for kale?

I'm getting pretty sick of broccoli, brussel sprouts, and lettuce.  Kale is in season but it's always been intimidating to me.  Do you bake, steam, sauté? And with what? Garlic?

Thanks!

The scales

So how is everyone doing?  TOMORROW is the scariest day for me.  Did I lose the 1% mandated by the diet or should I say incentivized by the Game ON! diet????
By 8 p.m. tomorrow the results of the winning TEAM for the week will be posted right here!
Look for them Tigers to be on top!
Followed far behind by Eagles and Cougars.

Mmmm...yum

First, if you are one of my Cougar teammates, don't read any further!  Just keep drinking your water and eating your veggies!

I had my first "meal off"meal last night.  Had a chorizo burrito with cheese.  It was tasty.  Oh, and also had chips and salsa.  Man, I missed those salty chips.

I did manage to pass on the ice cream afterwards.  But my kids didn't.  Boy did it look good!

And now back to your regularly scheduled menu.

But seriously, have a great weekend everybody and hope you are doing good with the game!

Game ON! blogs

Was browsing the Internet.  This is one blogger's account of the Game ON! diet.
 Week 4
Week 3
Week 2
Week 1

Here's one with recipes: Recipes

one fat serving

So is 7 almonds the size of my thumb and therefore equal to one fat serving or am I being too generous?  The actual numbers according to the Nutritional Guide is:
9.5 g fat
3.8 g carbs
3.8 g protein
A tsp of olive oil is
5 g fat
0 g carbs
0 g protein
Hmmmm...doesn't seem like it is exactly the same but with my yogurt I would prefer the nuts to a tsp of olive oil.
What do you think?

Adventures In Whole Wheat Pasta

I attempted whole wheat pasta for dinner.  It was a hit!  It's so much better than the stuff I remember trying 10 years ago.  It might not be much of revelation for the rest of you, but it was for my family.
Hope everyone's second day was a success!

FOOD difficulties

The FOOD is the hard part of this diet.  I made my first "egg white" omelet.  But why are egg whites yellow?  Weird but I digress.  The hardest part is ensuring that every meal, all 5 of them, contain protein, carb and fat.  It is actually the fat that is difficult.  Yesterday I had the most horrible concoction of Greek yogurt (14 g of protein), kiwi (carb) and a tsp of oil.  Yuk!
So if you have an idea of snacks that contain all the ingredients or maybe at our next meeting we can come up with a rule that makes the food easier.  For goodness sake we all know how to eat healthy but if we have to eat ridiculous stuff then doesn't it defeat the purpose of living? I wonder if at the end of the day we could just make sure that the protein, fat, carb ratio is good then we get our points.  (Not a cop-out just trying to make this work)  Comment on 1. good snacks and 2. how we can make the food easier.

Quinoa

He ladies,

So I made a huge batch of Quinoa yesterday and it tastes great.  Today I will make Tabbouleh with it.
Here's a link to some fun ideas... not all are appropriate for Game ON, but stilPinned Imagel yummy.

Sorting Through Junk

My first attempt at my good habit - de-cluttering my house for 20 minutes a day.  Although, I'm thinking I should really just call my good habit it throwing away all the junk that accumulates in my house because that's basically what I did.

BEFORE

AFTER

How long do you think it will take my kids and husband to undo my good work?
