Summary

So it is OVER!  We finished last Wednesday, the morning of Halloween and I for one threw caution to the wind and over indulged!  Oh well such is life.  A few of us then followed up with a Starbucks meeting to discuss how we found the Game ON diet!

There were four of us meeting.  Comments started: "my belt is fitting better", "my workout tee is looser around my middle", "getting rid of a bad habit felt good".

Our weight-loss was between 5 and 15 lbs.  Some thought the loss would be higher and therefore were disappointed but in general everyone felt that "a loss is a loss and I'll take it", "I'm not so disappointed that I want those 5.6 lbs back". Losing weight is hard and 4 weeks was not that long but long enough to expect losses.

The diet itself was controversial (not exactly the word I need) and inflexible which made for some whining.  We, as a group, decided that since this diet was based on integrity if there was a question of whether a food/meal was ok or not, we said "is it in the spirit of the diet?".  Answer is yes, then it was ok.  (Example is the farro question in this blog).  For future games we would define the diet much better than is was in the book and tweak it to suit our lives better.  The whole idea of losing all points for a mistake vs having a whole day off is questionable for any future Games.

We all felt that the good/bad habit was a great component of the diet.  One good habit was to "turn off work email between 3 and 7 p.m. to give my kids 100% of my attention". The good outcome is that it also "trained my colleagues not to send emails during this time as they would not get answered".

Other comments were:
  • found out my m-i-l is competitive
  • our kids were positive and supportive
  • there are some good exercises on the website
  • our blog was fun!
  • my body craved water if I did NOT drink it
  • my knees feel better
Our plan is to check in with each other in early January/late December to see who is interested in doing another 4 weeks of Game ON!

Stay tuned....
